What is the DEC?
The Detroit
Economic Club (DEC) was formed in 1934 as a non-partisan, non-profit
organization committed to the discussion and debate of important business,
government and social issues. It is known internationally as a top speaking
forum for prominent business and government leaders.
Does membership run for a full
calendar year?
Yes, your
membership starts the day you join and will run a full calendar year. You will
receive renewal notices one month before your anniversary date.
Can I attend a luncheon without
being a member?
Yes, non-members may attend at the rate of $75 per person. We encourage you to come and see

What networking opportunities are
available?
With over 3,200
members, the Detroit Economic Club is the area’s premier networking forum. Our
members represent all of the major industries in Southeast
Michigan. It is our goal to provide a venue that enables our
members to connect with the individuals who may have the most impact on their
business. Prior to each meeting all attendees are welcome to attend the Network
Café – The Most Productive Half Hour
of Your Work Week!
In
addition, all Sustaining members are invited to attend the Speaker Reception 30
minutes prior to each meeting. Meet the Speaker, Presiding Officer and present Board of Directors in the Speaker Reception – exclusively for DEC Board of
Directors, Sustaining and Life Members.
How many meetings does the DEC have
in one year?
The DEC
holds approximately 35 meetings per year. Our speaking season generally runs
from August through June. For the most up-to-date schedule, visit our current season lineup.
Where are DEC meetings held?
The DEC schedules meetings at various venues throughout the Southeastern Michigan area.
Is there a charge for each
meeting?
Yes,
however members, their spouses and guests receive discounted rates for
meetings. The per-meeting cost for members is $40, for guests $50 and for
non-members $75. Ticket cancellations must be made at least two business days prior to the meeting to receive a refund.
What is a typical meeting agenda?
Most DEC meetings are luncheons, with an occasional breakfast, brunch or evening meeting. We pride ourselves on a punctual agenda for each meeting.

How many guests can I bring?
You may
bring an unlimited number of guests to Detroit Economic Club meetings, at the
guest member rate. We encourage it! Be
sure to take advantage of the Network Café before each meeting.
Sustaining members may also invite two guests to accompany them to the Speaker
Reception.
How can I suggest a speaker to the
Club?
Our
speakers are limited to the upper echelon of business and government, including
CEOs of Fortune 100 companies, U.S. Cabinet members, and other senior state and
