About This Meeting

On May 17th, the DEC produced a Personal Financial Education Seminar attended by 120 students from 12 Southeast Michigan high schools.  The seminar, made possible through a generous State Farm grant, was held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Detroit Branch and began with banking basics taught enthusiastically by Tomika Snodgrass, U.S. Bank. State Farm’s Jackie Davis then captivated the students during her session on the basics of credit and budgeting.

The students were kept actively engaged during the seminar by the use of Audience Response System technology which infused healthy, school-by-school competition into the morning. At the seminar’s thrilling conclusion, Carlson High School edged out the eleven other schools to win the grand prize of Starbucks gift cards.

Many thanks to State Farm for making this seminar possible. If you are interested in funding our next Personal Financial Education seminar, please contact the DEC.
