Trevor Fetter serves as chairman and CEO of Tenet Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest healthcare services companies. With more than 130,000 employees, the company operates an extensive network of medical facilities, including 84 general acute care hospitals, 20 short-stay surgical hospitals, and more than 470 outpatient centers in the United States, as well as nine facilities in the United Kingdom. Tenet’s subsidiaries include Conifer Health Solutions, a leader in business process outsourcing solutions serving 800 providers, employers, health plans and other entities, and United Surgical Partners International (USPI), the largest ambulatory platform in the country.
Mr. Fetter joined Tenet in 1995 and served in several senior management positions, including chief financial officer, before leaving in 2000 to start Broadlane, Inc. During his tenure as chairman and CEO, Broadlane became a leading provider of cost management services to hospitals. He returned to Tenet in November 2002 as president, became CEO in 2003, and was appointed chairman in 2015.
Mr. Fetter began his career in investment banking with Merrill Lynch and later spent seven years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc., where he served in various executive positions within finance. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University.
Mr. Fetter has served as chairman of the Federation of American Hospitals, the industry association that represents investor-owned hospitals, and is on the board of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG). He is a member of the Business Roundtable and a director of the Dallas Citizens’ Council. He also serves on the Board of Dean’s Advisors and the Healthcare Initiative Advisory Board of the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Fetter has been named to Modern Healthcare’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” every year since the survey’s inception in 2002.
