The CEO Series is a monthly opportunity for YLs to engage directly with some of the region’s leading business leaders. The events are often held at unique locations, and attendance is limited to ensure an intimate dialogue between the featured speaker and attendees.
While networking happens at every DEC event, YLs have quarterly networking-focused social events, designed to foster deeper connections among peers.
Held each fall in Detroit, the Young Leader Conference is a professional development event specifically designed by Young Leaders for Young Leaders (under 40 years of age). Experience powerful keynotes, impactful breakout sessions, and extensive networking throughout the day, with an afterglow for DEC Board Members and conference sponsors to connect further.
Take advantage of YL professional development workshops to gain practical tools, insights, and networking opportunities that support your career advancement.
Volunteer to mentor high school students through the DEC’s Career Readiness Academy (CRA). Running from December through May, this six-month program connects teams of YLs with students from Southeast Michigan, providing ongoing career mentorship and guidance to help them prepare for their future.
YLs can volunteer at regular DEC lunch meetings to assist with setup, registration, and welcoming guests. This hands-on experience not only supports the DEC but also secures you complimentary access to the meeting.
Annual dues for Young Leaders are $75. Additionally, event tickets typically range from $45 to $65.

This one-day conference is designed by Young Leaders (YL) exclusively for Young Leaders!
The purpose is to support the Detroit Economic Club’s initiatives by engaging professionals under 40 years of age through educational events that offer Young Leaders exposure to the insight and expertise of the DEC’s distinguished members and engaging Young Leaders in vital discussions with the region’s prominent leaders and other professionals, and conducting such other activities to support and further the goals and purposes of the DEC.
