About This Meeting

DEC Young Leaders met with Manny Amezcua, CEO of MassMutual Great Lakes on March 16, 2022. This meeting was held at The Pistons Performance Center in Detroit.

The evening began with a private tour of the Pistons Performance Center and a surprise appearance from Detroit Pistons Legend, Earl Cureton.

Following the tour, Manny reflected on his journey from growing up in Chicago to moving to Detroit five years ago. “Be the biggest advocate for yourself. The more that we think about what we want, the more people will pick up on it,” he added.

Manny discussed that he is in the business of people and that the greatest currency is someone’s attention. He recommended having a conversation to better understand how to add value to the people in front of you.

A Q&A session followed with YLs asking how to communicate with those of differing opinions and work with others virtually.

The event concluded with networking with Manny and YLs.
